AI answer accuracy log

Keep the exact statement, supporting evidence and correction status together when an AI answer gets your business wrong.

Check the statement, not the tone of the answer

An answer can sound confident while giving the wrong location, price or service. This log separates the statement made by an AI system from the evidence used to assess it.

The template includes an explicitly fictional example. Replace it with an actual observation before using the log as evidence. Avoid saving personal information that is not necessary for the check.

Capture enough context to reproduce the check

  1. Save the exact prompt, date and platform or API conditions.
  2. Copy the specific statement being assessed, rather than paraphrasing the whole answer.
  3. Record the cited source, if one was provided.
  4. Find the approved business source that supports or contradicts the statement.
  5. Classify the statement as supported, contradicted, outdated or not verifiable from the available evidence.
  6. Assign the source correction and schedule a comparable observation after publication.

Example: a price that no longer applies

Suppose an answer says a fictional provider charges $99, while the approved current price page says $149. Keep the quoted statement, answer date and both source references. Check whether an old page, third-party listing or cached excerpt still contains $99 before choosing the correction.

The numbers above illustrate the method. They are not FoundUp prices or a measured AI answer. A correction to your own page does not control what an external platform will say next.

Correct the source you control

Update contradictory website information together: service pages, pricing, FAQs and structured data. Where a third-party listing is wrong, use its official correction process. Do not claim a platform has accepted a correction until there is evidence.

Repeat the original prompt under recorded conditions and retain both observations. If the error remains, leave it open. Read the correction workflow and how to interpret AI citations for the differences between a source link and a supported factual claim.
